Meredith, if you go to the Help for Movable Type (accessible from the page you edit your blog from), it tells you there how to create a thumbnail that is linked to a larger image; basically it gives you code to copy & paste into your blog.
If you are not getting this option, then notify Stepan. Twice I have had the function disappear and Stepan has had to work some kind of magic with the server host or something like that. It was working in July when I posted a pic of Grama Sprong with my blog.
