Atrainplays recap

theAtrainplays at New World Stages was a rip-roaring success. All 7 of the short pieces (2 plays, 4 musicals, 1 One Man guitar piece) were interesting. Some of my favorites were "The A Train to Hell", the song "What's gonna Happen Now?" and the last piece with Cady Huffman. But my all-time, singalong-for-days-afterward favorite had to be the one about the 30-Something Birthday Girl. The composer/lyricist wrote a Birthday song that is so catchy and so cute that I aim to sing it (if I can remember it) at all of my birthdays hence. (It's definitely an adult birthday song due to its affection for the word f*ck.)

In addition to being a critical success, the show was a commercial one as well. We made our nut and managed to sock away a nice little nest egg for cultivating Off Broadway theatre.

And the programs were awesome! (if I do say so myself).

Catch theAtrainplays on NPR.

Margot Adler of NPR shadowed the cast and company as they created the pieces on the A train, rehearsed the pieces and then she watched the show on Wednesday night. She's doing a piece for "All Things Considered" on Monday, August 14th sometime between 4 and 6pm. Check it out!
