Gary Portnoy

Somehow Gary Portnoy got my email address and knows my name. He sent me an email inviting me to check out his new website. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since he's been crooning about that place where everybody knows your name for the last 20 plus years. That's right, Gary Portnoy is half of the songwriting team that wrote the Cheers Theme, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name".

The weird thing about this contact was that he used my given name, not my nickname from the email address he used. Do I know Gary? Have I met him before? I'm drawing a blank. But I did check out the new website.

There's a great story about how he and his writing partner got the gig to write the theme song. Check it out.
