Emmys 2007
One of these days I'll get a solid entry but it probably won't be today. I miss those days when I got to write. Essays, journals, maybe a little creative gossip. It's been awhile. (But at least I am writing. KNOCK! KNOCK! Is anybody in Karlhub anymore?) Last night as I was falling asleep I had a sudden thought to include a serial- a novel I've been playing around writing. Don't be surprised if you see that.
Until then, mark my words that Studio 60 in the Sunset Strip will rake in the awards at Emmys 2007. I saw the pilot a few days ago and it's pretty brilliant. Matthew Perry does a great job of a non-Chandler role. The subtle differences are enough to make you forget about his other life as Monica's wife and everybody's "friend". Amanda Peet, an actress that I often find perplexing, does a really good job too. I can't really tell if she's going to be a bad guy or a good guy and that's a great thing. The entire cast has a real ensemble feel that usually takes 1/2 a season to establish. Maybe it's Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme? These two have loss none of the magic that made West Wing a magic kingdom.
So it's not the White House and I can't pretend that there's a smart person in the Commander in Chief seat, still Studio 60 is smart and funny and has planted the seeds for many intriguing episodes. Watch it!
