Commemorate 9/11

by making a difference this September.

Make September a time to Protect, Beautify, Educate; in some way Improve our local community.

The September Project aims to honor the unsung heroes of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 by encouraging citizens to improve or address the needs of their communities during the month of September.

We honor the spirit of community of New Yorkers who put their lives in peril to save others, who fed relief workers, sheltered people and pets evacuated from soot-ridden homes, searched through wreckage, donated blood and lent a helping hand for anything that was needed in those dark early days during and after the World Trade Center tragedy.

"We lost so much on September 11th; but we gained something too. In our darkest hour, Americans could still rely on each other for strength, courage, solace and rescue. That is something to be celebrated and honored. And so should the lives of the courageous who reminded us."

We remember those lost and honor their struggle through service.

Donate to this year's September Project, Habitat for Humanity-New Orleans.
This year September Project is focusing it's efforts on rebuilding a part of New Orleans by raising money for Musician's Village on behalf of Habitat for Humanity-New Orleans. You can make a donation using our secure Paypal account.

Pledge your support by sponsoring founder Meredith Lucio as she strives to complete a sprint Triathlon.
If you read this blog you know I've hit a snag in this quest. It's been a week since my bicycle accident and I'm still sore...though I'm feeling better than I did last week. My bike is incapacitated and I'm still not 100%. But I've got a borrowed bike from the lovely folks at Trek and I'm going to do my best to heal up this week so I can finish this race. If I can't finish the race, my sister Jennifer has agreed to take up the sword and finish in under two hours! in my stead. I'm still going to try to complete this race. I need your support!

Have your own September Project event and bring friends and family together to celebrate and raise money for this part of our nation that needs our help.

On this fifth anniversary I wish you health and happiness and the spirit of community that so many on that dark day struggled to protect and preserve.

My best wishes for you and yours,
Mermu
